It can fit a wide range of places:
C bout to c bout
Shoulder/upper bout to c bout
Lower bout to c bout
It has a wide range of placement possibilities due to the various adjustments, I think 5 adjustable points in total (don't have it by me at the moment so don't quote me!)
1. If you play sitting, it keeps your left knee off the back of the bass, allowing full resonance and volume.
2. The bass can be turned more to the right, giving easier access to G string with the bow, facilitating a more natural and relaxed right arm position. Adjustment can be varied to suit either solo or orchestral playing.
