I have a FatHead for Fender basses I bought years ago and never installed on anything. I am not about to put it on my 64 Jazz bass at this point.
FYI a Fathead is a thin piece of brass that goes on the back of the headstock. You take off the tuners and reinstall them with the fathead between the tuners and headstock. It is shaped for the headstock.
The purpose of it is to increase sustain by providing additional mass. It may also have the effect of moving dead spots on the neck from bad places like the B on the G to string to less bad places. Adding mass to the headstock definitely helps dead spots and this is a rather elegant way to do it.
Price is $35 + $5 shipping
