The body is made from a single piece of swamp ash, the neck is made of American walnut with Purple Heart wood for the fretboard. Hipshot bridge and tunners. Strap mounts are setup to accept strap-loks. For the electronics, it has a pair of American John Benson humbuckers, vol-vol-tone, with 2 push-pull pots controlling volume allowing you to switch each pickup from series to parallel individually. The tone knob controls both pickups simultaneously. The electronic cavity is lined with copper shielding. There is an orange tone resistor built in to the tone circuit. (Passive)
The bass is truly beautiful, I shared some photos from the build and a couple in outdoor lighting to really show the color and beauty the best I could with a photo. It’s the attention to detail the builder put in that I really enjoy things like the electronic cavity on the back is covered with a piece of American walnut to match the neck, the fret markers are glow in the dark, and the foam string dampener Felton included that used matching Purple Heart wood. (If you want I can include it with the bass but you have to say please)
There is almost no neck dive with the bass because of the weight of the swamp ash and profile of the neck. I haven’t weighted the bass but it is very close to my yahama bb604 probably a bit heavier but not by much. This is not your average local build this is a true masterpiece and won’t last long.
If it so great why am I selling it? Well it was my first five string and it will be my only five string. It’s just not for me and I wish I had the money to just buy another unfortunately that’s just not in the cards for me. If you would like to hear a sample of it being played Felton USA has a clip on Instagram and Facebook of him playing a couple rifts, it sounds as wonderful as it looks. Benson pickups are American made in case you haven’t heard of them there are also clips of the pickups all over the web.
I am looking for a 4 string and would be willing and happy to do an even trade for a bass of equal worth.
Feel free to ask any questions and or for photos or videos. I am in Citrus Heights, California and anyone is welcome to check it out in person.
Thanks for looking. And if you would like to talk via text my number is 6193069697 please just start with your name and that you are from talkbass.com to keep the peace here with my wife. She may have questions if she sees random numbers texting random amounts of money. Or even worst she could get the idea some of it is hers and that I just can’t allow.
