This is more of a feeler but figured I may as well float it and get it out there to gauge interest while I consider my options. This thread may disappear tomorrow...or not.
This specimen is a limited edition 2016 Fender Precision bass neck from the “Magnificent Seven” run they did a few years ago. Magnificent 7: 2016 Limited Edition Collection While it looks like a Precision, and says it’s a Precision, this neck actually sports a 1.5” width at the nut. It’s essentialy an American Standard Jazz Bass neck with a Precision logo (serial # designating pedigree searchable and furnished via PM by request).
I purchased this brand new last year from Stratosphere looking to go a different route and it has been on my one and only 2012 American Standard Precision ever since (yes, it was a perfect fit and required zero modification). It has been on my bass since the day I got it and hasn’t been fiddled with or experimented on any other bass since. In other words, you won’t find 47 extra screw holes at the heel from me trying to attach it to a Peavy or something else ridiculous like that.
Unfortunately, I have since discovered that my hands are more comfortable with the modern Precision bass’s shape and width and am selling this solely to fund a replacement as such. Just like a Jazz neck, it’s super fast and the 9.5 radius lends itself well to many styles. A slappers delight. The truss rod functions as it should currently sports very low action with minimal buzz, at least in my hands. Fret ware is what I’d call minimal and normal for a new neck that’s been played fairly regularly for the last year and a half. About half that time it was sporting flats.
There are a few minor dings that I’ll photograph and attempt to highlight to the best of my ability as this posting evolves, but all in all it’s a perfectly functional neck. The fingerboard is rosewood and the neck will ship sans tuners. I have no idea what the tuner size is or what tuners outside of US Fender Standard fit. Whatever size those are are the ones that fit! Neck plate and bolts not included. This neck will remain on my bass and I won’t be removing it unless or until it’s sold. I have one bass and this neck is on it. If I decide to just buy another bass, I’ll likely just keep the neck and save it for a jazz body should one come along...or not! Perfect for someone wanting to retain the Precision aesthetic while sporting the sleek feel and playability of a J. I did post interest in a possible straight trade, but I’d prefer that be done on a local level as the only thing I’m really interested in is an American Standard or Pro P neck in similar condition.
