The last few years my career has become strongly focused on working as an audio engineer, and as such this beautiful Fodera has not been getting the gig time that it deserves. Because of this, I am looking to sell my custom shop Fodera Monarch 6 Bolt On. Since I do not perform as much as I mix audio I am not looking for any trade offers, please. *Price drop, $7,500, OBO*
I am the original owner of this bass which has not been on but a small handful of gigs and is in mint condition (I also have a Fodera Emperor II 6 that I play more often (that one will never be for sale)). Full specs are listed below, but the inspiration for this build was to have a simple, understated look with a bright and powerful tone. I chose Ash/Maple/Birdseye Maple and EMG 45J pickups, largely inspired by Richard Bona for that combination, but with double cutaway and bolt on construction. This is a very percussive combination. I went with Fodera's custom shop pope pre amp of course, which we all know gives a lot of flexibility to the tone. For the headstock, I asked for a birdseye maple veneer to match the fretboard instead of having the headstock match the body. I've only seen that approach in one or two other Fodera's and found it to be a cool, unique look. There are no inlay markers on the face of the fingerboard, with black side inlay markers to match the all black hardware.
The action is super low (set up from Fodera's shop) on a 35" neck and 19mm string spacing (what can i say, I have large hands). Despite the scale and spacing, it is quite comfortable to play, as are most Foderas, and the action is a little low for my personal taste. The neck is insanely strong and stable. I actually had to reverse the truss rod once I had it in Texas for a few weeks as the neck settled in to being dead straight without hardly any help from the truss rod. Depending on the climate where you live you might want to reverse it back once the bass acclimates.
The bass will ship in the Fodera teardrop hardshell case that came with the bass in the original cardboard box that Fodera ships their instruments in (yes, I saved the box from 2015,...) via the shipper of your choice, although i prefer FedEx. I will ship the bass with the original truss rod tools that came with the bass as well. Shipping expense will be on the buyer based on actual cost, but I can get an estimate for you before finalizing a deal. CONUS only.
