I am selling a used Ampeg SVP-CL preamp that I bought on eBay on 9-29-11 because shortly thereafter, I came across and bought a new old stock, still in the box SVP-CL (and I don’t need two of them). I am asking $450 for it, including shipping via UPS and insurance to one of the 48 continental states. (PayPal only.) I paid $473 ($455 plus $18 shipping and insurance) for it to fastcashgoldcenters (the eBay seller) out of Denver, Colorado. They may be able to answer questions about its history, but as far as I can tell, the preamp is in pretty good shape: 1) the knobs for the two 5-way selector switches were a bit worn so I bought two brand new replacement knobs from Ampeg and changed them out (I am pretty anal about my equipment); 2) one screw is missing from the top cover (which indicates to me that the tubes were probably changed at one point); and 3) I cleaned off the blue ink pen marks where the prior owner marked their favorite settings. The pictures here are from the eBay listing. I have played thru the preamp about 4 times and it sounds great -- nice, warm Ampeg tone (clean, not distorted, although I am planning to experiment with other tubes). If you are interested, please send me a private message. Thank you. -- David Daniel.

To clarify, I am asking for $420 for the preamp plus whatever UPS shipping and insurance costs. I shipped a similar size and weight package to Ohio and UPS charged me just under $30 for the shipping and insurance, so that is how I cam up with $450. (I am in Texas.) Have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Regarding the tubes, I opened the preamp’s cover today and found out that the tubes in it (from primary position #1 to position #4) are Groove Tube (red logo -- GT's indication of a tube with a lot of clean headroom), Electro Harmonix, Groove Tube (white logo -- GT's indication of a normal performance tube good for all styles) and Electro Harmonix. The interesting thing is that I also opened my NOS preamp and the tubes in it looked EXACTLY the same, so I bet the tubes in the preamp for sale are the original tubes.

Regarding the tubes' condition -- they seem to be working fine with no noise issues. I don't know how old they are, but they appear to be the original tubes.

Hi Phil.
I sold the preamp but gave the buyer two weeks to check it out since it is used and I was not the original owner. Since the buyer received the preamp on 1/9/12, I will wait until 1/24/12 to consider the transaction complete. If the buyer returns it, I will contact you. Thank you for your interest.
