Details

This Epiphone Thunderbird IV has a glossy red metalflake finish that was applied by a body shop, and it looks excellent - no flaws, runs, or unevenness that I can see anywhere.

The two other things that aren't stock are the 3-way pickup selector switch, and the dice-style knobs. I'm told this closely resembles the bass played by Nikki Sixx on a recent tour. I picked it up recently after the original owner came down with acute Fender G.A.S., but it isn't really my thing.

The only signs this bass isn't brand new are a couple of light rubs on the tip of the headstock, and some marks in the screw slots on the bridge from the last time it was set up.

It came to me with a newish set of Dean Markley Helix XX 45-105 strings. These were a poor choice for this bass because of the way the E & A strings taper down for the last couple of inches before they go over the bridge saddles. This doesn't work very well with the Gibson-style 3-point bridge, and causes the E-string to buzz some. If I was going to hang on to this one, I'd definitely re-string it with something more standard.
