I'm sad to say that my gigging situation has changed yet again and being a total idiot, I still haven't secured the right ash/maple pbass for the job.

Up for sale is a one of a kind, chambered walnut, Lowend Jazz. It's beyond amazing to look at and is easily the most versatile bass I have ever seen, heard or played. I would argue that it is some of the finest work Brian and Chris at the Lowend have ever done - think Alembic, Wal, Fodera influenced jazz basses and you are getting the vibe it has. I'm really pretty bummed about selling but I now know exactly what I need and I finally have a long term gig with some legs.

Specs -

4 string
Chambered Walnut Body
Flamed Walnut top
LEJ Maple neck
Ebony Fretboard
4xSingle Coil handwound LEJ Pickups
4xPickup Volume stacked (meaning this can be two types of jazz config, pbass, musicman, HH - you name it)
LEJ Preamp
Passive/Active Switching

I paid over $4000US for this bass. It took 8 months to build and I have played it for 5 months. It has one tiny (3mm) mark where the neck joins the body in the cutaway - it can only be seen if you hold the bass upside down. Beyond that, this bass is mint.

Tonally it can do warm and smooth or roaring ultra-growly rock with pretty simple tweaks. In terms of playability, it pretty much ruins other basses for me. Especially when it comes to neck profiles. LEJs are the best in the world for this in my opinion.

Looking for $2800US shipped. I am based in Brisbane Australia.

Ideally, I'd like to arrange a trade plus cash (on your end) for a US Bob Glaub, a Mike Lull, Sadowsky, Fender 70s/Custom shop, Nash or another ash/maple pbass of similar quality. 4 strings only.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Pms responded to and I understand why people are questioing my decision to move this. I've thought about it alot and just know that a good pbass fits my requirements better. I'm sure I will regret moving this but I'm a player first and foremost.

Bump. Getting plenty of offers.

My number one choice would really be to grab a US Glaub as part of a deal at this stage. I'm really after a high quality Pbass for live and recording work.

It's more important to have the right instrument than the best instrument. I still think my 78 Jazz is the best bass i've owned and i've been through a few high end modern J's the last 12 months.

I played a really nice vintage Pbass the other week, not sure what year it was but weighed a ton and sounded incredible.

Goodluck with the sale, this shouldn't take to long.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Thanks guys.

My number one bass is also a LEJ. They are just so versatile that I really can't justify a second. A pbass will be my change-up instrument.

Still really looking for a Lakland Glaub, a Fender Custom Shop, a Sadowsky, a Lull or a Nash. I'd also love to get my hands on a Stingray Classic. The bass needs to be ash and 4 strings.

Let me know what you have and if it is any of the above, I'll be keen to make a deal happen.

I have received a bunch of offers for trades with 70s Fenders and I'm just not sure I would be able to get comfortable with the chunky neck profile on these. I played a few locally this week and really struggled. Sorry for any hassle to those of you who have sent through pms.

Wow, I saw another bass here today that was really cool, but honestly, if this is around in September, YOU are getting a PM from me, lol. Long shot, and good luck, but maybe, just maybe...

Thanks mate. The way the market has been on high end basses in recent months, it's possible that it will be available in September :D

These pics do not do the bass justice. I saw it hanging on the wall at Brian's shop before the electronics were installed.

Thanks for that. A friend of mine just said a similar thing. He's trying to encourage me to put it on consignment in a good bass store here in Australia because you really need to see it in person and play it to know just how good it is.
