can we get a little back story ?

Whats under the patch? (could the original bridge PU be re router into it?)

The original PU holes are underneath the top. I do have the original pickups as well as the Audere preamp that was installed when I bought it which can be included if anyone is interested.

The back story is that I bought the bass last year and it was playable but pretty beat up. I was looking for a TRB to experiment with. I removed the original finish, refinished the bass, re did the frets and experimented with several different pickups and pickup locations. The current setup was my favorite. The bass sounds and plays great, but I'm back to playing fretless again, and this was more of a project / experiment to test some ideas.
