Two matching 6 string J. R. Beck basses for sale or trade. One is fretted & the other is fretless. Both have active electronics, solid bubinga bodies, maple necks w/rosewood fingerboards & brass nuts. These basses were made in Korea and in spite of their rather inexpensive price, they are incredibly solidly made. Both were set up by my tech & are in absolute mint condition. I venture to say that after nearly any disaster you can come up with, these two basses will still survive. The sound is quite variable between the MM style bridge pup & the Jazz style neck pup. The only reason I'm selling them is because they are heavy....about 12.5 lbs. each. However, if you want a real nice sounding 6 string for a great price and don't mind the weight or buy them for studio use, this may interest you. These are strung through the body. I will sell both together or separately for $300 each + shipping or trade for other basses.

String spacing at the bridge is 1.4cm or .1/2 in. Neck is 2 1/4' at the nut & 3" where the neck joins the body....24 frets.

The electronics are unknown as far as what brand they are. They are active-9v. They are vol. pickup selection, bass & treble boost/cut.

Here's the backs. I would look on these basses as platforms for mods. The pickups are standard sizes & can be replaced with Barts, Nordys or whatever. These bad boys are made to last. Built like tanks.

well, they have a 34" scale but are strung thru the body. This means you need extra long strings. I don't know how to measure the spacing, I guess. I measured the distance between the B -E strings. The inside edge of one to the inside edge of the next. I don't really have a way to post clips at the moment. However, let me say that the sound of these basses is viable as is. There is a terrific amount of tone variation available with what's onboard now. If someone will explain the correct way to measure spacing I will do it. The dimensions on neck width given above are correct.

Ok, the distance between the middle of the B & the middle of the E (where the neck meets the body) is 15mm.

String spacing is typically measured as distance in millimeters at the point where the string crosses the bridge's saddle. For instance, my Jazz Bass Special measures 3/4" (0.75" * 25.4 mm/inch =19.05mm)

We'll get to the bottom of this yet. Using that method....16mm.

How would you describe the sounds available from these basses?
How do they compare to other basses made in Korea in this price range? Brice or Agile etc.
Is there a possibility that you could post any soundbites/videos?
I would love to hear those things!

I've never played a Brice or Agile, but this bass compares in quality to the Korean Spector Legend 5 I used to have. The Beck basses are a little nicer woodwork wise & certainly way more durable & stable. I do not have the equipment here at my house to record & post clips of these bad boys, but I'll be in the studio in the next day or two. I'll try to get it done. The neck alinco pup can get huge bottom end with the bass kicked up & the bridge pup is quite MM like & will bark & growl. Both are capable of giving you more than you want of their signature sound. It's very responsive. the guy who had these made was going to sell them for much more, but his investor took a hike & left him with a bunch of them. He started selling them out of his house at reduced prices just to make room for his family. They really are nicer than the price would suggest.

The fretless 6 is gone in a trade. Still have the fretted one for now.
