View attachment 3862888 I picked this up recently to try out the SB-2. I have to say I REALLY like the tone with flats on it. Even without the tone control, you can dial back on the volume and it backs off some of the highs. There are some aesthetic issues (fully disclosed below) but NO functional issues and I would keep it but I prefer lighter basses (this is 9.1lbs). I actually like this so much that I just bought a new sb-2 for considerably more $, but it is lighter.

The Good:
Really nice playing, really nice neck, cool blue with a beautiful pick guard. Structurally sound. The price for a US G&L!

The Bad:
When I first posted this the pots were scratchy and I thought there was a ground problem. The ground problem was in my pedal board, NOT the bass. I've played it a bunch with no buzz. As for the pots, DeoxIT was all they needed. NO scratchiness at all now!

The Ugly:
As you can see, the body has taken some hits. NOT by me. I've photographed those closely as the paint is mostly in nice shape but as you can see, there are a number of damage spots.
Part of the neck sticker has rubbed/ripped up on the front of the headstock. I've got no idea how that is even possible so if you have an idea, please feel free to post it below. Perhaps it has a replacement neck? It looks and feels like a USA G&L neck (I've had a few) AND it is Quartersawn so it is NOT a tribute series neck. It also has the CLF sticker and number on the back of the headstock.

The Details:
I don't have the build sheet so this is from visual inspection. As such, feel free to post if you have another opinion!
Neck: Quarter-sawn maple. 1.5" jazz width nut, thicker neck profile (not super slim jazz).
Body: Based on the wood I can see in the one damage spot, it looks like Swamp Ash.
Case: Pretty beat up looking. It will close square but requires your attention to do so (not forced, just line it up). It seems fine for shipping and general transport but it isn't as structurally sound as a new case.

Feel free to ask anything else or post your opinion of the wood specs or sticker mystery below. I'm not hiding anything here (unlike the person I purchased it from).
Like I said, if this were lighter I would keep it. I purchased a new SB-2 from Rocket that is lighter.

Priced to sell given the issues: $775 shipped east cost, $800 west of the Mississippi. (This is higher than first listed since I first thought it needed new pots. Now that this is figured out, I've raised the price some...still a smoking deal!). Reasonable offers considered. I'm looking for a sale but you never know.

I live in central PA if you want to check it out.

trades: I prefer a sale but could be tempted by a trade. Preference for jazz nut size. I would consider a fretless and/or something with an acoustic tone like an Ibanez SRH model, Carvin AC, etc.

Relisting this as I've addressed the electronic issues I thought it first had (I was wrong) and am expecting my new SB-2 from Rocket this week. Reasonable offers considered.

This is an amazing deal. I wish I had a time machine to unload the SB-2 beauty queen I bought two years ago and come back and buy this street fighter. Whoever buys this will have a new best friend. GLWTS!

Edit after taking a closer look at the pics: This thing has some badass scars! So cool.

The scars are very noticeable up close but surprisingly not at any distance. The paint is shiny and the pearloid pg pops. The worst chunk out of the paint looks like forearm wear and I don't notice it while playing. If it was a half pound lighter I would've kept it. Ordered a new one that was lighter because I was so impressed.

On hold pending trade! Waiting on a fretless...oh boy. I can once again discover how much work a fretless requires to have good intonation!
