I just bought a Tribute Kiloton, so this needs to go to fund that purchase. I have a killer vintage jazz bass on long term loan to me, so this is not seeing much use.
G&L Tribute JB
After I got this bass, I did a number of upgrades:
Electronics installed and bass set up by Strange Guitarworks here in New Orleans.
Weighs 9#4oz on my bathroom scale.
**As you'll see in one of the pictures, the only damage was actually on the bass when I received it. There is a little chipped spot on the top side next to the nut. You can see it in the picture. Does not affect playability or structure of the neck. I got this for a good price new and decided not to return it as my guitarist also bought one and his was over 10#.
Bass will ship with a brand new Gator GBE Bass Gigbag.
$500 shipped.
Here is the image that I could best get the chip on the neck next to nut to show. Like I said, cosmetic only. Not on a part where your thumb touches it when playing.
G&L Tribute JB
After I got this bass, I did a number of upgrades:
- Dimarzio Model J pickups. These were purchased by another Talkbass user as new-old stock from a local music store. Notice the label says Jazz Bass is a trademark of CBS! Compared to more modern Dimarzio Model J's, I'd say these are a touch darker.
- Custom control plate from Flippin Guitars included all new pots, and the addition of a push/pull tone control for parallel/series operation. I also replaced the plastic knobs as the G&L ones had a bit of a sharp feel on the ridges. These felt more comfortable.
- Schaler S-Locks.
- Neck pickup cover (had the screw holes drilled professionally on a drill press at repair shop vs me doing it with a hand drill). Easy to remove of course.
