Itching to unleash your inner Noel Redding? I need to sell a Hagstrom HB8-BLK short scale (30") 8-string bass in mint condition. This instrument has a mahogany body, one-piece hard rock maple bolt-on neck, a "Resinator" (wood composite) fretboard with 21 medium jumbo frets, and a high-gloss black finish. The pickups are Hagstrom dual-coil humbucking rails, and the electronics consist of volume, tone, and a six-way rotary switch for pickup and coil selection. The bass is in mint condition, although there is some lateral play in the rotary switch pot, and comes with a Hagstrom "Hag Bag" soft shell case, which is also in mint condition except for two missing zipper pull tabs, which have been replaced with zip ties (is Lobster secretly hoarding pull tabs??) .
I purchased this bass early last year from LowEndLobster, who provided this YouTube video review before putting it up for sale:
While his review is both comprehensive and fair, Lobster doesn't give much time to highlighting the naturally advantageous string layout (octave string above bass string) by playing with a pick, which can perhaps be better demonstrated in this video:
Six-way rotary switch settings (clockwise; Lobster demos them counterclockwise):
1: Both pickup outer coils in humbucking mode
2: Bridge pickup outer coil in single-coil mode
3: Neck pickup outer coil in single-coil mode
4: Both pickups in humbucking mode
5: Bridge pickup in humbucking mode
6: Neck pickup in humbucking mode
Specifications:
My asking price is $300 shipped (so CONUS only), but any and all reasonable offers will be considered, as the instrument must be sold. The payment method is negotiable, although I'd much prefer alternatives to PayPal/Venmo (e.g., Zelle, check, bag o' cash, etc.). All requests for additional information and/or photos are very welcome.
