For sale Ibanez EHB1005SMS (Nordstrand Big Splits)

I pulled the trigger on a used 1265 from GC. It should arrive next week. I've got 45 days to vet it. I'm.....apprehensive.

My main bass is a Sadowsky Verdine white 4 string, that's 8.1 lbs and plays like butter. Sounds.....like home. But, you know how it goes....you see something out of the corner of your eye, and the next thing you know you're plunkin down $1400 for a bass you absolutely do not need.

I sold all my 5's earlier this year. Don't need em. Don't need the weight, the bulk, the extra notes. I've used 5's exclusively for the past 20 years. Laklands, Sadowsky, Yamaha TRB, Ken Smith, Tobias...some real boat anchors, doing many club dates and cover gigs throughout the NYC area. ( On a whim I recently made a written list of every bass I've owned personally over the last 44 years. There were 52. Yea, I guess I have a problem)

Now I'm 60. I live in Cincy. I don't do weddings, or play below D house/club music. I'm classic rock guy now. My 4 string with a D Tuner can take care of the rare Rage against the machine tune, or some Bon Jovi D drone in a cowboy song.

But boy o boy, this 1265 sure did pique my interest. I've seen the youtube vids, and it really does sound nice and clear. Which is my mantra. Not loud..... Clear. Full. Articulate, but not sterile. I've owner US Ken Smiths that were so crisp, but all I could hear was the drummer goin.."get a jazz bass a-hole". ( he was an opinionated guy...New York, what can I tell ya)

So, I guess we'll see. The 1265 has alotta bells and whistles I like. Graphite rods, good fret work ( from what I've heard) Glow in the dark neck dots (so sexy)..headless is wonderful, and bridge tuning is a big plus too (strings don't twist...ever) a Pretty top, chambered ( Sadowsky's chambered basses are $4K+ or more). I'm lookin forward to trying it out. I just have found very few opinions of this model in this thread. (But I'm terrible at using the search feature)

So, if you do, or at one time did own the 1265, please, chime in. Let me know your thoughts.
