Ibanez TMB505 Talman 5 string bass

$450 plus shipping. I'm in 06801 if you want to estimate it. Alternatively, I'm willing to meet up and avoid shipping, so feel free to ask (I'm in southern CT).

I am the original owner, bought it from Sweetwater. I've gigged it a couple of times, but it's in great condition. The P/J Nords sound really good, and it's one of the reasons I eventually sought out a P/MM to replace it with. The roasted maple neck and fretboard are really nice. They're a little darker in person than what the pictures show in full sunlight. I don't have a gig bag or case for it, but if I have to ship it, it will be well packed in an instrument specific box.

A few things to note:
  • There's one very small blemish/ding above the bridge, but it's very hard to see and capture with the sparkle paint.
  • I replaced the stock tuners with Hipshot 1/2" UltraLite's. The odd thing is that it appears Hipshot no longer makes fully chrome finished tuners. The tuning keys themselves are chrome, but the rear housing and posts are a matte, brushed finish. I mention this because I had one tuner from a previous project many years ago, so I bought a 2+2 bundle. I didn't notice the difference with my old fully chrome tuner until I put them all on the bass. It's the A string tuner, the topmost one on the treble side. It's hard to notice from a distance, but up close it's obvious. The good news is not only did it reduce the overall weight of the bass, but it also really helps with the headstock dive. The size of the headstock and the weight of the stock tuners, combined with a shorter than normal strap point (13-14th fret) meant it had notable headstock dive with a run of the mill strap. With the tuners swapped and a decent 3-4" strap, it's way better. I will include the stock tuners with the sale.
  • I used a red sharpie on one of the toggle screws as a reminder for active vs. passive (red is active). If you hate it, you could probably remove it with paint thinner or nail polish remover (obviously after you removed the screw from the bass first).

Here are the specs:
  • Made in Indonesia
  • Originally 9 lbs 5 oz, now 8 lbs 15.2 ounces (8.95 lbs) w/ the new tuners
  • Okoume body
  • Metallic Gray finish
  • Roasted maple neck & fretboard
  • Nordstrand CND P & J pickups
  • Ibanez 2-band EQ, active/ passive switch

  • 45mm at nut; 1.77”
  • 72mm at 20th fret
  • 240mm radius
  • Currently with D'Addario EXL165s; .045 .065 .085 .105 .130
