Tried a set of KS pickups in another bass and they were KILLER. GLWTS bump.

Do you have the actual dimensions? Are they similar to the Bart BC shape?

They look sorta like EMG 40 shape, but of course Halegroove will give the exact dimensions.

Dims look like 4" x 1 7/16" for both

Just to remind folks, Smith basses go up to the 5,000--$6,000 or more price range. These Pickups are the heart of those fabulous bass creations. Very rare.......another set might be 6 months down the road here on the forums.

Free bump for having installed these PUs into the lakland for Halegroove. I personally thought they killed paired with a Bart Pre-amp (didn't expect that!) but also really good with a Demeter. Somebody buy these!

These look pretty interesting. Did you have to modify the 55-01 pickup routs to make them fit? I've only played one Smith ever (loved it), care to comment on how they sounded in the 55-01? I see only two wires per pickup, does that mean these are humbucking only and coil switching is a non-option?

Incidentally I have a Demeter pre in my 55-01 already, with the Tyler mod. Wrings all the available tone out of the MK-1 pickups but also clearly shows their deficiencies..


Edit - Saw your comment re. sounding good in ash/maple, which is what I've got. I guess what I meant was does anybody have a comparison of what these might do vs the Bart MK5s I've been thinking of? Do you happen to know what bass they were in originally (what model Smith)? I don't know much about Smiths, so I don't know if they use the same pickups across all their models or not. Thanks!

I have the bass that these were in and I don't see any cuts, mods, etc. Certainly nothing obvious. Halegroove might know if any were made.
