Lakland 55-01. Indonesian. I bought it here on TB. Added Aguilar DCB pickups and Bartolini NTMB pre with mid-frequency selector (250-500-800Hz). Where do I start? When I bought this bass, the pictures did not show the true condition. Hopefully, my pics do just that. You might consider this a rescue bass! Cosmetically, it is somewhat challenged. The neck has dings and scratches, but no snags. Never bothered me. Body has miscellaneous 'signs of use' per the photos. Sonically, I'm really pleased with it! I've been playing my Aerodyne a lot more lately, plus we're doing the medical bill thing right now. I would do the DCB mod again in a heartbeat. I watched Jimmy Haslip's video on the Aguilar site and felt like the DCB's might be what I was looking for. I was right! Big tonal pallet, plenty of harmonics, very responsive to the NTMB pre. I'm still not finished exploring the sounds.

It plays well. There is persistent buzzing on every string at some point, mostly frets 10 - 18. B string buzzes pretty much all the way up. I don't hear it when I'm plugged in. Somebody knows what to do about this. It's a setup issue.

So, it is what it is. I paid $500. $400 in upgrades. $495 shipped in a gig bag, CONUS, PayPal. Subject to prior sale on Ebay.

P.S. - See my other sale for a Mono gig bag!

The buzzing is a improper shielding issue.
There is some confusion out there between what happens when you have a grounding issue vs. when you have a shielding issue.

You have a grounding issue. Here’s how to tell:
Solving Bass Hum Problems (Grounding vs. Shielding) " notreble dot com"

  • If your bass hums once you touch the strings (but is otherwise quiet), you have a grounding issue.
  • If your instrument hums but becomes quiet once you touch the strings, you have a shielding issue.
