I have those same Kent Armstrong "lipstick tube" pickups on a Stambaugh 4-string bass, and I can assure anybody who is looking at (and considering) this bass that those pickups have a great deep, punchy and powerful tone to them! They are definitely NOT "pickups for use on cheesy $250 basses"!

I love Kent Armstrong lipstick tube pickups! So much so, when I had a custom Grove bass made for me, those are what I specified as part of the build.
