I recently picked this up on Reverb. It is a beautiful bass to look at, feel and play. The only issue that I would have to point out is that the truss rod seems to be almost maxed out. When I received it I tuned it up in order to play/test everything out. I immediately noticed that the action was very high so upon adjusting the truss rod (which is the type with a nut at the top) I noticed there were two very thin washers under the nut. I was able to give it about two 1/4 turns but it was very tight. I added a few washers and installed Thomastik flats (since these are low tension and I had a set of extra long scale). I would like to say you could probably get another 1/4 turn or so, but, it's at a playing comfort that I could accept so I did not return it.
The below information and the first few pictures are from the original add. I added some pictures to try and show the neck as it is now (it's almost flat with just a hair of relief).
This Mike Browne Design "Milo" 5 string fretted bass is a thing of beauty! You've probably never heard of this guy but if you crave unique, masterfully crafted basses with a "wood-lover" feel and plenty of exotic woods, you need to check this one out! This bass boasts a mahogany core with a stunning figured walnut top with maple accents, walnut back, and a walnut/maple center block. The top also has a unique cut-out, presumably to be used as an armrest, but it's a piece of art in and of itself. The neck is crafted from quartersawn maple and is topped with a Pau Ferro fingerboard and a walnut headstock veneer and stinger. The bass is loaded with wood-covered Nostrand Fat Stack 5 string pickups, an Aguilar OBP3 preamp, custom wood knobs, and a Hipshot bridge and tuners. This bass is used but is in excellent condition with no major signs of use. Not only is it a stunner, but it plays like a dream as well, and it's one of a kind! Nice and light too, at only 8.4 pounds.
