This is a rare opportunity to purchase Young Joon Park’s hand-wound P-Bass 4-string pickup which captures the tone of an early ‘60s Precision bass. I reached out to ultradust when I first bought the pickups – below is some additional info he shared with me:
Wound in April 2012. The split-coil pickup is a standard Moollon VP-60 (AlNiCo V) as found on all Moollon P-Classic IVs, the "VP Custom" always meaning that it was wound with a slight deviance from the 10.5k ohm resistance (as measured at room temperature) that is targeted when winding the VP-60 for all customer orders.
Note that knowing YJ's strict adherence to vintage principle and no room for exceptions, the pickup will not be severely overwound or underwound, but it's safe to say that it will indeed lean one direction or another, hence YJ's transparency by labeling it "VP-Custom" and not just "VP-60".
