MTD 535-24 Specs:
Body: Ash w/ Burl maple top
Neck: Maple w/ Ebony fretboard
Bridge spacing: 19mm
Condition: Excellent
Special additions/upgrades:
This bass is in excellent physical condition and playing condition. It has only the most superficial of playing wear...very slight "glossing" in the finish around some of the knobs and near the neck pick-up. It is very hard to see (even up close), and nearly impossible to photograph. There aren't any nicks, gouges, or scratches in the finish...as mentioned, excellent condition! Those that know me, know that I always take excellent care of my instruments... This bass is no exception.
One very special quality to this bass is that it has a very uniquely thin neck profile. This, in turn, makes it an absolute breeze to play... very comfortable and very fast. Another very special quality is the burl top wood. As you can see from the pictures, the burl pattern is amazing. But as is known with Mike Tobias' basses, the craftsmanship is always absolute top-notch!
My asking price is $4000 shipped, but I'm also interested in trades of around the same value +/- some cash. Trade interest include, but not limited to: Fodera, MTD, Ken Smith, Roscoe, Sadowsky, Mike Lull, STR, ZON, etc. I'm really only looking for 5 and 6-string basses (fretted/fretless), and I'll consider any legitimate offers.
My reason for selling is simply to finance a new build or explore obtaining a different make/model of bass.
The following is a video of this bass being played by TB's Mikebass. It's a good demonstration of the tone and playability.
If you would like some more samples of the bass' tone, I can provide additional recordings. And if you have any questions about this bass, feel free to ask. I will answer as best I can. Thanks.
