Details

Bought this as an open box item on Reverb for my American Professional Precision 5, but I ended up selling the bass before I installed the pickup. The covers have some very light marks on them, and there's a small bit of solder on the ends of the leads. Leads me to believe this may have been installed and then returned, but I can't confirm.

$100, shipping included.

(Note: The blue painter's tape in the photos is just holding the covers on.)

Good question. I don't recall the original ad saying which they were, and I didn't know it was an option until now. My guess is that they're probably 5's since that's the standard, but let me see if I can confirm with the original seller or Nordstrand.

The original owner actually responded and said that he didn't do a special order. So more likely 5s, but still trying to contact Nordstrand to see if there's a way to confirm.

Here's what Adrian from Nordstrand said:

Check the etching on the bottom of the coils, they will be etched as NP5F A3 if they are Alnico III.

If they only have NP5F on them, or no etching at all, they are Alnico V. Most likely this is the case, the vast majority of our pickups have Alnico V magnets.

Photo attached. It appears this is indeed the Alnico V version.

Got an IM asking if I had tested it or not. Did a quick continuity test with my DMM set for 20K, and the results:
