They were installed in a bass for a few months and have very slight finger marks.
They work with any string spacing. I even briefly installed one of these in a 5 string bass where the strings were right over the notches and that worked fine.
The wires are the original factory length of about 9" for the bridge pickup and 13" for the neck pickup with the exception that one of the soldered ends broke off and so is a little shorter.
