Greetings all,
For sale is a mint Nordy VPJ5 Bass with Midi (5 string) serial #30 with the FretTraX midi system installed. Total value for this is $5500 but I am selling it for $3550 plus $90 shipping continental US only.
It actually originally was just a P bass but I sent it to Mo to get a big split installed in the J position. The bass is mint, plays like butter, has that authentic P bass sound and bark, and gets a great Jazz growl as well. It is a truly an incredible bass on it's own. The tone knob on the bass is really the secret sauce here, what these basses are known for. One simple tone knob surprisingly provides a wide array of tonal possibilities. And the bass is super super light too.
A couple of years ago I had Lee’s FretTraX system installed on the bass and he was kind enough to make some custom changes for me. My system in addition to multi mode, GM mode, and split mode, slap mode, also has a dual channel split mode and a variable mode where I can set the bass to any midi channel I want. The dual channel split mode allows me to set one midi channel in the lower register of the bass, and another in the upper register of the bass. If you aren’t familiar with the system, it has incredible tracking capability which is customizable to your playing style. Note this is not a pitch to midi system so it doesn’t track open strings, it is a fret sensing system which has far superior tracking than a pitch to midi system. I attached a youtube link to Victor Wooten talking about the FretTraX system. He is not playing the bass I am selling, just the midi system. No trades and I am open to reasonable offers.
Some pics for ya...
Thanks for looking.
