Because bassists tend to argue the relative merits of 12” and 15” speakers, most people are very surprised at what comes out of the two 5-inch Piranha speakers. Superb sound! Very portable –easy to pack into the back seat of a car and easy to carry around, at only 28 lbs. It’s in mint condition - I’m not a gigging musician, so it mostly has stayed home (I’ve taken it to exactly 3 house parties and 1 open mike night.) I have the original box & packaging, and a cover.
It’s great for small spaces or as a practice amp that can be moved around more easily than the rig you use for performances. It doesn’t get all that loud – I use an LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI to shape my sound and boost the gain a little, and that combination has just enough power to handle a medium-sized bar (e.g., my one open mike night.) It has a speaker-out connection that allows it to be used as a pre-amp for an external cabinet (though I’ve never done that.) It also can be powered with a 12-volt battery (an internal battery can be purchased and installed, or you can connect to an external battery or to your car’s 12-volt accessory outlet.) I’d like to keep it for all those reasons, but I also have another combo amp and I can’t justify continuing to keep both of them.
This is the 100-watt model, which has been retailing for $699.99. For comparison, Phil Jones also offers a Briefcase Ultimate model that retails for $999.99 (the BG-200, with 150 watts.)
