How does the sound of these compare to something like a Kala U Bass?

I've never heard a Kala U Bass (I've seen them, but never played one), so I just looked it up on youtube. They are really cool sounding!

I think he gets a good representation of the tone on that clip.

The Rob Allen sounds like a more traditional electric bass than the clips that I've heard of the U Bass. I think the nylon strings and the piezo contribute a lot to that sound. I don't think nylon strings would work with the magnetic pickups though.
