I've had this for eons but need something with a cleaner character that "plays nicely" with external OD-centric pedals. Considering mid-tier rackmount preamps and full-option mic channels (EQ's, comp, etc.).
This is an early 90's (?) SansAmp all-purpose rackmount tube amp emulator. It is the predecessor to the programmable PSA series. Real knobs, no programming! Every single aspect is OD-focused including: variable gain on the front end, 3 individual EQ bands, drive (emulates the tube power section), and 2 band EQ on back end. I recently had the unit serviced by Tech21 to address a volume pot issue. Comes with the original XLR-esque power source...argyle socks not included. Few things to consider:
*No FX loop. Run your rackmount peripherals between the SansAmp and power amp.
*XLR / DI gain is adjustable via a trim pot on the chassis reverse.
*XLR signal varies with main volume setting.
I've been running it with the entire tone stack bypassed (Active button on front) when used in conjunction with a multi-FX unit. $135 gets it shipped to your front door but will consider trades as mentioned. Thanks for looking!! / Riis
