The cheapest isolated power supply I’ve ever seen.

I use Voodoo Lab for my main pedalboard, but I've been wanting to put together a second board for all the pedals I rarely use that I can tag on to the main board signal chain when needed.

I don't want to daisy chain pedals, and didn't want to spend Voodoo Lab prices for the second board, but all the cheap "isolated" power supplies aren't truly isolated when you do a little research.

But it appears that ammoon has just produced an isolated supply for less than $50, so I had to order one.

Both reviews mention that it is truly isolated.

I was looking around for an inexpensive isolated power supply and found a couple that claimed to be isolated. Eventually I settled on this one because each output is rated 500mA and I have a few high current pedals on my board. This had no additional noise (compared to my daisy chain power supply that hissed and hummed). Checked the outputs with a multimeter and it turns out that they are indeed isolated. I've had it for about three weeks now with heavy use and no issues yet. Will update my review if any issues turn up in future.

All 8 ports are 500mA and it comes with a splitter for running an 18v pedal.

Well, to be fair, it's one of those Amazon pages for effects pedals that offers multiple "sizes" - in this case 2 sizes - one being the power supply and the other being an eq pedal.

I actually found this by accident. I was looking at eq pedals and clicked the other "size" out of curiosity.

I fried a vintage pedal once because of an inadequate power supply. I was starting out in the whole pedalboard thing then, but still, the lesson stuck. I'd be cautious about budget power supplies... Frying a pedal is even more unsexy that spending 100-150$ for a good quality power supply. My 2 cents

In my mind, a pedalboard power supply that has a DC in (there's a big wall wart somewhere out of the picture) is not solving my need for a relatively small, reliable, convenient source of power. I'm also guessing that the price of that means at least one more corner has been cut.

I use a Donner DP-3 ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073W7JCJP ) and run my pretty large pedalboard with it (i daisy chain the 300ma ports). Haven't run into any issues so far.

36.38$ with free shipping from china. Honestly for 10$ it's worth paying more for faster shipping, but it's still pretty crazy how cheap they are getting.

I own the vitoos ISO4+ which seems like the same one in the OP, both are clones of some other iso brick I believe. I also have the vitoos ISO8 which seems like a truetone clone or something, with the 2 switchable 9/12/18v outputs.

Almost positive it's just a chinese clone of some other more common isolated supply. Perhaps not the fanciest but they seem pretty solid for the price. And for people on a budget it's a great alternative to spending 100$+ for the same thing from a name brand.

On one hand, I agree. On the other, I'm leaning towards buying a Truetone CS6. Because they have a reputation for quality and I know there's a company to stand behind their product. The question is, what is that actually worth?

If you can afford it then it may be worth it. For people with tons of expensive pedals who are gigging/recording regularly it makes sense to have something that is reliable, but chinese budget gear has come a long way.

I'd like to try one of the really fancy 200-300$ supplies eventually to compare and see if it really makes much of a difference for the price. Though even if it is quieter for some pedals it's hard to justify a 10x price difference.

For my messy home recording set up I have 3 power supplies, and all 3 cost about as much as a single name brand supply. 2/3 of them are isolated even and the non isolated one works fine for most pedals. For a smaller gigging rig it could be worth getting a used truetone supply or something that may be more reliable. I had one other 40$~ non isolated supply that broke after 2-3 years, just suddenly stopped working entirely though so thankfully it didn't do any damage.

As far as high current extremely portable supplies go, I have a TrueTone CS6 and I also have an Eventide PowerMax (made by Cioks). Anyone who thinks these supplies aren't worth the money is wrong, really.

I don't have any experience with this one exactly but I have 2 joyo power supplies that are pretty much the same thing and they work great. I actually started out with one and liked it so much I bought a second for the other half of the board, reliable and have had zero issues, I'm going on 6 years of using them pretty much everyday. I know I have a different opinion than some but I'm not spending $500 to power my pedals.

I use a Fame DCT-200 from german Music Store (40€) which works great but is a huge yellow brick that won't fit under any pedalboard. Might try the ammoon since i'm running out of space and I don't like having a dinner table for pedals.

Most cheap PSU's are not *isolated* even though it says so on the casing.

I use burkey flatliners pros and junior six.. If I didn't I'd use an mxr iso mini supply. As I trust them a lot more than off branding.. I like them more than even voodoo labs. For a hundred it's worth my sanity.

My story and just my opinion.....started with a one spot, whammy pedal wouldn't work properly. Didn't understand the whole miliamp thing at the time. Went to a Caline power supply, it couldn't do what I needed. Bought a Cioks DC7.....YES! All pedals now have proper voltage and miliamps, everything works great. Very happy, buy once, cry once.
