**11/19: added new Trade options - would be open to a Darkglass B7K V2 Ultra or Microtubes X + $$$!
Hello all, up for sale is a beast of a fretless - a very low-serial US Masters P5 made of solid mahogany with highly figured birdseye maple neck, and awesome pau ferro fretboard. This bass has an asymmetric neck profile that gets flatter as you go into higher positions. The wide spacing is comfortable and easy to get used to.
The truss rod turns very smoothly in both directions (includes original truss rod tool). These basses were essentially custom-made in the U.S. and are no longer produced, making this a real unicorn! The 18v preamp is extremely responsive and allows you to go from aggressive snarl to fat thump with a few knob turns. The low B is quite tight, growly, and consistent all the way up. Check out the specs:
- Only 7.2 lbs!!!
- Mahogany body
- Birdseye maple neck w/ asymmetric profile
- Pau ferro unlined fretboard
- 35" scale
- 19mm spacing at the bridge
- Graphite nut
- US Masters P pickup
- 18v preamp
- Knobs are: Volume - bass - mids - treble
- Gold hardware
- Sperzel locking tuners
- Fully shielded control cavity
- Strung with TI Jazz Rounds
- Includes white OHSC (disclaimer - the locks are busted because the original seller sent it to me locked with the keys inside. Case still latches and is sturdy.)
Bass is extremely clean with no visible dings. One part of notice is a mystery wooden control plate that was added under the knobs by the previous owner. I've never taken it off to inspect if there's any damage underneath the plate, but it looks sharp and is sturdy.
Selling for $800 firm- these retailed for over $2000 new and were handmade to custom specs in Wisconsin. Only selling because of bills and obligations. Bass is located in Queens, NYC. Will ship at buyer's expense within lower 48. Thanks for your interest! Pics below (10/16/2020: opened up the front control panel to assess the wear underneath - it’s a fully shielded plate that goes through to the back control cavity. New information brings the price down to $775)
