1993 Vantage 960BA 6 string
Neck through body design
7 piece maple/mahogany neck
Ash body sides with dark cherry stain
Clear topcoat
24 fret, Ebony fretboard
34" scale
This bass plays and feels like an instrument costing much, much more than I'm asking for it, and it sounds huge!
Upgraded to new EMG pickups
PJ soapbars (45P and 45J, in soapbar housings)
EMG Pickups / Bass / Electric Guitar Pickups, Bass Guitar Pickups, Acoustic Guitar Pickups
9v or 18v active
These EMG pickups have a rich, well balnced sound, and are extremely versatile. Not only do they sound great live, they're very recording friendly.
Newer strings (DR high beams) with about 5 hours of play time on them.
16mm spacing between strings at the bridge.
Weighs 10.9 lbs (certified digital scale)
This is in remarkably good condition for a 30 year old instrument. There are no dings or gouges but there are a few of the normal light scratches and blemishes typical of regular playing.
Fret wear is minimal. The tuners are original and work well. The bridge is a new high mass bridge but I don't know the make.
The neck is straight and the dual truss rods work properly. I have the action set low with no buzzing.
The electronics were missing when I bought this and the stock pickups are generally considered weak so I upgraded to brand new EMGs ($220).
The new EMGs are a little bit too short for the pickup cavities, so there is now a small gap on either side of the pickups (see pictures). I decided to make a pair of brass pickup rings to improve the appearance of the bass and make it look more as if it came this way from the factory. They're made of ⅛" thick brass and are held on with a tiny amount of non-permanent adhesive because I didn't want to drill holes in the body or in the brass rings. I've left the brass surface as is, with light machining lines, but I can polish them to a mirror finish at the request of buyer for no extra cost.
I'll include the genuine Fender padded gig bag for free.
Sale price is $650 plus actual shipping.
PayPal preferred. G & S okay, for your protection. I'll pay the fee.
EDIT: I'm dropping the price by $100 for Memorial Day weekend. Unexpected bills need to be paid.
$550 plus shipping.
2nd EDIT: Last price drop to $500.
Let's help each other out. You get a great playing and sounding 6 string, neck through bass, with tons of mojo at an incredible price, and I get to pay my bills.
3rd EDIT: Must sell. Cash needed badly. I'm losing money on this but I've got bills to pay.
Final price drop. $350.
Plus I'll split shipping.
