Time to part with my amazing Hiwatt DR405 (also selling my 1973 Orange Matamp OR200 in another thread as well). Caught my white whales, played em and loved em but its time to move on and wife needs a new car haha. Great condition, fully functional, amazing tone from 6 KT88s and 2 gigantic partridge transformers. Recapped and retubed in 2014, matched sextet of JJ KT88s. 300 watts of all tube bass glory.
There were approximately 50 of these made by hiwatt back in the day, less than 20 known still in circulation (the hiwatt registry shows about 15 of them). This is the second lowest serial number on the registry indicating its one of the earliest ones (around 1973). These rarely come up for sale, i got this in 2014 and the last one i saw before that was on talkbass in 2011.
Knobs are all original, badge is original, switches are original, both red and green lights are original and function, the backplate is a custom plate with matching tolex as i bought it without a backplate (backplate made by PM Sound Technology in Falls Church VA). IEC plug was added to the back for use in US but i also have the original Bulgin power input which will be included and can be reverted back if needed.
Included is a large custom ATA flight case (top loader), 3/8 ply, purple, made by Safe Cases out of Texas. It will be shipped in this case as well.
