Awesome early 80s jazz bass from Yamaha with P-style neck. Body is Nato and the neck is maple. Controls are V/V/T. Condition all around is really great.
Electronics are all functioning perfect and the truss rod works. The pair of original oversized single coils are clear and smooth-sounding with a certain dryness and snap. The tone control has a subtle sweep, and the instrument retains good treble definition, never sounding muddy with plenty of clarity across the strings, with the focused low end and midrange burp of a J bass.
Frets are in good shape and the neck is straight with nice low action. The maple neck has a full, round C profile carve with loads of shoulder, lightly rolled fretboard edges, and light flame figuring, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and tapering to 1.005" at the 12th. The bass features a full 34" scale and the original slender frets with good height and fairly flat crowns, practically pristine with virtually no wear. The original nickel-plated tuners are particularly heavy duty, functioning smoothly with light patina. Body is in very good to near excellent condition.
