Selling my 1990 Ken Smith BT4. It is a great Smith bass, but I play more of my 5 string basses hence the sale. I bought here on TB. Here is the original link:
SOLD - Ken Smith BT4 (1990)
About the bass:
Koa Body wings
Mahogany body core
5 piece maple neck
Original Smith BT preamp (Vol, Blend, Bass/Treble stack)
Dunlop recessed straplocks
Weights about 9.5 lbs.
Comes with Ken Smith hard case
Graphite reinforced neck - there's a G under the truss cover, and the extra little dot on the fret board at the 24th fret marker are indicative of the graphite. Not every Smith of this era had the graphite installed.
Very minimal fret wear.
See photo of the slight wear on one fret.
That's the worst of it.
A previous owner did the fretwork (which is fantastic) and caused some indents into the back of the neck with what I can only assume were clamps.
You can still see the indents in the photos, but you won't feel them as they have been drop filled and smoothed out.
Some dings and light scratches on the top of the bass, most likely from fingernails or picks, and some tarnish on the gold hardware. See photos. They look worse in the photos than in real life.
There's a big scratch through the serial number on the neck above the 24th fret.
Not sure why, but it's there.
I do not have strap ends for the strap locks.
I didn't get them with the bass, and I don't use Dunlops anyway.
Price is $2650 shipped within the USA. Paypal is OK. No trade please as I do not need any more basses. Please make me an reasonable offer. Thanks
**** Reduced to $2400 shipped within the USA ***. Great deal folks
