You will not find a better playing Quantum 4 on this site. This is a 92 Modulus, 35" scale length, EMG PJ pickups and BTS preamp. I bought this from the second owner.
-In 2023 the previous owner had the neck planed and refretted by Jerry Dorsch of Graphite Guitar Systems in Washington state who used to work at Modulus. Jerry is the MAN when it comes to fixing carbon fiber necks.
-I bought the bass earlier this year and took it to a local shop with some concerns about the neck relief, but instead of fixing anything they just broke the original Modulus branded Gotoh bridge and didn't tell me.
-Following that I brought it to someone else local who further planed the neck to create very little relief under string tension, and fit a newer Schaller roller bridge on the bass. During this process the bass was pretty scratched and dirtied up, essentially trashing the finish of the neck. However it did play very well and I used it on two big gigs for our band down the shore with absolutely no issues.
-About a month ago I sent the neck to Jerry again who did an absolutely incredible job refinishing the neck, cleaning up a majority of the bad fretwork and scratches, and installing a new Modulus logo on the headstock. The carbon fiber flake design on the neck is stunning in person and the neck looks essentially brand new.
That's the history of this bass that I'm aware of. Other noteworthy things-
-A brass nut was fabricated and installed with an ocean of super glue. The nut was badly misaligned and I spent a few hours slowly removing super glue residue with a razor blade to reinstall the original nut. That is the discoloration of the carbon fiber in that area.
-Original nut filed for B standard tuning. These are 105-45 strings on it now and it plays perfectly. However this bass has the absolute most insane B string you have ever heard. I'll include the set of 120-60 DR Hi Beams I was using so you can see for yourself.
-Two noticeable dings on the body, one on the rear belly curve and a smaller less noticeable one on the front. The body clear has noticeable paper towel scratch marks on the back (genius)
-Small wear mark next to the neck pickup. I think the original owner played it a certain way for a long time.
-Small imperfection on the rear headstock from installing the tuners, barely noticeable with the CF pattern. Serial number is still on the neck heel
-Fretboard still has micro scratches all over. I asked Jerry to do what he could in cleaning up the neck and trust me it was worse before.
-Pots are slightly scratchy from age but I will try and clean them before it ships
-One of the 3 other people who worked on this bass installed a neck shim using cut plastic material that doesn't compress. You shouldn't have to take the neck off for anything but it's not the prettiest. Its about half of a neck pocket shim, maybe 1/8"-3/16" thick
-HSC is pretty dirty with some scratches but holds the bass very well and all latches work
***I am also including a complete set of gold hardware for this bass, including 5 Modulus branded tuners, a new gold Schaller roller bridge, 4 new Schaller gold knobs, and a used set of gold Schaller strap buttons and locks. Everything on the bass now is stock apart from the bridge. Broken stock bridge is included
