1995 Ken Smith Burner 5 in near mint condition. Seriously, other than the missing truss rod cover and the light wear on the electronics compartment cover, you'd think this thing had never been played.

Great bass for those looking for the Ken Smith sound for a reasonable price. Capable of a wide range of tones: everything from that modern Evan Marien/Hadrien Feraud midrangey punch to a more driving/bottom heavy P-Bass sound. Low-B is tight and full. Has a surprisingly killer slap tone as well. Low action and a near-flat neck makes it comfortable to play.

These basses were machined and manufactured in Japan then underwent final assembly and Q.C. check at Ken's shop in the U.S.

This is NOT one of the cheaper KSD Burners that are manufactured overseas today. This is the real deal!

This wrong bass was totally made in the USA. because Ken Smith for 1993 to 1998 did it in his workshop in PA. From 1989 to 1992 half was in Japan and the other part in the USA. The only thing that bass does not have (USA) are the pickups are Japanese. This information was given by Ken Smith himself. Goodnight.

To be clear are you saying the pick ups in this bass are Japanese,but everything else is from the USA?

Nonsense. This is made in Japan like all Ken Smith Burners. The only USA component is the pre-amp which they started to put in during 1992. Most Burners went through Ken's shop for final inspection and setup. Exotic woods on Custom & Artist Burners came from Ken's shop but all of them were built in Japan.

That is not correct what he says (Ronen) does not know the history of 1989 to 1992 the woods were cut and sent by Ken Smith and the Preamp and assembled in Japan. The final inspection was made by Ken Smith, his workshop in the USA. From (1993 to 1998) Ken Smith from his workshop made the burners. the only Japanese in all those basses of 93-98 were the pickups sent to make a small factory in Japan. I was in the Ken Smith workshop in Pennsylvania and he told me the whole story of the burner.

Unfortunately Ken cannot respond here because he's banned from TB. Visit his forum and get all the information. He wrote about it many times. The Burner line was a copy that was built in Japan, from day one to the last bass - Burner & BSRB models, all built in Japan. From late 1992 they started to use the same preamp as on the US models.
