Here is a 2001 first run Gibson Nikki Sixx Blackbird signature Thunderbird bass. Similar to a standard Tbird from this time but with a black nitro finish, iron cross inlays, and a on/off switch control layout. Electronics are stock with the Tbird+ pickups, both wired in parallel to the switch with a 380kOhm resistor in series to the jack. No headstock breaks or major damage. I completely disassembled this bass and cleaned all the metal parts, greased the threaded bridge posts and truss rod post; and cleaned the nitro finish with naptha and a coat of car wax to the condition you see here.
No significant damage but lots of scratches, dings and imperfections throughout. There is a spot maybe 2" wide on the side of the body next to the lower strap button where the black nitro finish has flaked off, probably from wear from a strap. Elsewhere the nitro has some really beautiful organic finish checking going on that's only really visible up close. The back of the headstock has a strange scratch on it next to the serial #.
Plays very nicely, truss rod works well, and set up with brand new 105-45 Rotosounds as it should be. With these older 3 point bridges I have found that the A and D saddles become bent upwards to a ridiculously high action due to age and string tension acting on the bridge, so currently I have the bridge essentially bolted to the body with the string heights filed to 5/64"-4/64" across the bridge. I don't think you'll want to go lower than that, I did this on my 91 Tbird years ago and it has maintained perfect string height since then.
The original Blackbird case is included and both latches work. The right corner of the case looks like it got hit or something at one point and is in bad shape- the case will open a bit further than all the way but it stays closed and is only a problem taking the bass in and out. I'm confident with some sheet metal and rivets you could fabricate a new corner for the case without too much trouble.
Please post any questions and thank you for looking.
