I've always had a thing for the 4000 series "S" basses, and this is the nicest one I've ever played. I don't want to part with it but I have to (expenses coming up that I can't put off). The discontinued Ruby Red color is stunning in person (and it makes the beautifully streaked fingerboard pop even more than they usually do with the lacquer). I wasn't necessarily looking for that color when I bought it, but it's grown on me far more than I thought it would.

The only noticeable imperfections I can see are at the top of the headstock, which I tried to get a good shot of in the photos. I'm not a sticker guy, but this one was already missing the pickguard stickers when I bought it. There was a little residue by the treble pot (may be noticeable in some photos), but I cleaned it off with goo gone. Other than that, it's really clean, plays well, and sounds great. It's got the vintage tone push/pull pot, and comes with both the treble pickup cover (removed and in the case) and a chrome treble bezel (installed and pictured). It also comes in the non-original Road Runner hybrid case I bought it with, which is heavy canvas on the outside, with what they call a "lightweight, rigid thermal-form structure" on the outside. It functions like a hard case and has protected the bass well.
