Have you thought about talking to Brady Muckelroy or Martin Keith? I have have 32" scale 5 string fretlesses from both of them and they were amazing. The one in my avatar is the Martin Keith 5/32 fretless.

A new build is outside my current budget.

I do have a 33" scale 5 string Elfin that's amazing, so maybe I should just save up...
