I had played fenders for years. Wanted to get a 5 string - but the necks were just too wide to be able to play comfortably. So I made my own - I have converted a 4 string to a 5 string and it is awesome.
I have done several of these. This one doesn't get used as much so trying to sell it before I part it out.
Took a Squier CV Fiesta Red body. Really just one mojo ding, sanded off some of topcoat. Looks awesome.
Reloaded with Fender 59 Custom shop pickups.
Replaced bridge with 16.5mm spacing 5 string bridge. This bridge spaces 5 strings perfectly across 4 string neck.
Took Squier VM precision neck. Patched and recut the nut. Added another tuner peg.
Thats pretty much it. Set up with Chromes. It is now a lightwight, easy playing, great sounding 5 string bass.
A 5 string Pino!
