Details

Very clean AI Coda + modular combo in excellent condition. $799 shipped CONUS

Consists of:

1. Removable AI Focus 2R Series III head (1000 watts into 2 ohms, 800 watts into 4 ohms, 450 into 8 ohms; 2 fully independent channels, each with its own adjustable HPF/notch filter, 3 band eq, plus studio-quality digital effects). This version of the head is a step up from the one sold on its own, as it has a headphone jack and doesn't have the heavy metal plates on the sides.

2. 3-way (front-firing midrange and defeatable tweeter, down-firing 10" woofer) Coda+ cabinet, which holds the above head or other cabrio-compatible heads. Spring-loaded kickback legs in base.

3. Vinyl cover for combo.

4. Padded case for head when you use it without the cab.

These are ridiculously powerful and versatile, and at under 22 lb, crazy light. They're the ultimate for amplifying upright bass or any other acoustic instrument, providing absolute clarity and power in a light, compact, transparent and natural-sounding package. For bass guitar, you can knock walls down with the removable Focus head, rated at 800 watts into 4 ohms and 1000 watts into 2 ohms.

I have been using this strictly as a combo on winery (yes, we have a few this far north:)) and distillery gigs, with my Rob Allen bass in a three piece jazz standards combo. The sound is perfect for the uprighty tone of the Rob Allen. I've also used it with acoustic guitar, and with a twist of the high-pass filter it sings clear and sweet with no hint of boominess.

As a bonus, I've used the second channel for a vocal mic, which works great and basically gives you both a bass amp and a PA.

I have not used this Focus head outside of the combo, so it is very and pristine and new-looking, but I owned the same head in its non-coda-compatible version and used that with both the Rob Allen and electric bass, with either one or two EA Wizzy M-Lines, and that was a glorious rig as well.

Why am I selling? I have my eye on another purchase, and to swing it I need to consolidate my gear down to one rig that I can use for all gigs. Plus, a bandmate in the trio has bought himself a small mixer and powered cab, so I don't need to run a mic into this cab anymore. That means I can use my (granted, much heavier) Handbox head, which is 2 ohm stable and plays very will with the piezo of the Rob Allen, and also sounds heavenly with the M-Line cabs, though it's more bulk and weight to carry than this little powerhouse.

The new version of this combo (Coda Series 4Plus) starts at $1499, has less power (650 v. 800 into 4 ohms) and doesn't include a padded case to carry the head alone when you use it without the cab. The new version of the head alone goes for $979 and, again, has less power. At $799 for this very clean, lightly used 1000-watt beast, including both the cover and padded case for the head, shipped CONUS, this is a steal.

+1 for this combo. Picked one up last year from a fellow TBer, and I can't say enough good things about it. The head has replaced my Mesa 800+ as my main head for all my non-upright gigs as well. GLWTS
