I never thought I would be selling my USA made '98 Cirrus, but GAS has gotten the best of me, so up for sale it goes. I'm the original owner and bought this bass brand new in the fall of 1998. I think this was the first year they were made, please correct me if I'm wrong. This has been one of my favorite basses in the last 12 years and I've always taken great care of it. You might find a couple of small dings, but nothing that would photograph well, I tried. The body is Walnut, top is Bubinga, the neck is Maple/Walnut and is graphite reinforced. Weight on the bathroom scale reads 8.0 lbs. I also have a G&L L2000 for sale, so if the G&L sells I'm keeping the Cirrus, or vice-versa.
As a woodworker, I personally made custom knobs for this bass. I used solid Ebony and inlaid the tops with Amboya Burl. The volume and pan knobs feature a bit of light colored Amboyna Burl, while the bass, mid and treble knobs are solid red. The bottoms are counter board for an aluminum insert, then drilled and tapped for a 6-32 stainless steel set screw. I also made an Ebony ramp, that sits perfectly between the two pickups, and it's contoured to match the shape of the pickups as well.
One amazing thing about this bass is the fact that in the 12 years I've own it, I have never had the need to adjust the bridge or the truss rod. For me it was perfectly setup at the factory with med-low action. And with it's graphite reinforced neck, I've never had issues with the neck moving. Also, the electronics are studio quite with no noise/static from the knobs/pots. The tuners and bridge are not tarnished.
The Peavey hard case is in near mint condition, I always used a gig bag, and comes with all the original case candy shown, including the original mint Dunlop strap locks, I never used them. Because of it's great condition, custom embellishments and all original accessories, I would like to get $850 shipped for this beauty. I'll be happy to answer any questions.
