OK here is something you certainly don't see everyday. I originally purchased the body of this right here on TB. Very little is known of it's original maker. By the way it's a 1 piece of carbon fiberglass, neck and body all in 1. I rehabbed this bass several years ago to make it a more playable instrument. I know I will be sad to see it go. I have the full restoration documented and you can see the pictures here.
Here's the info:
1 Piece Carbon Fiberglass body/neck Matte Poly finish.
35.5 Scale unlined Brown Mesquite Fingerboard brass side dots on the note, not between. Ziricote nut. There is only the slightest marks under the B string from round wounds between 3rd and 5th fret.
Hipshot Ultralite tuners.
Bridge Stainless baseplate with Wenge body, Ziricote Tailpiece, Hipshot Saddles. Brass inserts for bridge.
Wenge 3rd pickup inlay and backplate, Walnut knobs.
Bartolini M56CBC pickups with NTBT918 18volt preamp.
Volume + Pan/Bass/Treble with center detents.
LMI dual action truss rod and wrench.
Reclaimed Ivory Laser Etched Malabass Logo.
Inset Dunlop strap locks.
Weight not dainty or for the faint of heart, perhaps why you don't see all in 1 designs like this, it's 11.9lbs. Luckily it sits nicely with no neck dive. Did I mention that the neck is straight and true and hasn't moved in ages. Action set very low and slinky, plenty of mwah for sure.
Strung with DR Ultralife Black Beauties, showing some wear but still pretty bright. Comes with a Roadrunner, plastic ribbed gig bag, 1 tear at the bottom but still works great. Huge detachable bag with many pockets on it.
I threw together a quick MP3 here, just bass into soundcard, no EQ on board or off used, just pan with both pickups and each one by themselves. I'm sure you'll hear the difference.
Price: $800 Shipped to Continental US. I can personally guarantee you will not see another one of these basses.
Any questions please let me know.
Dirk
