Some history of this bass:
I first acquired it in 91 from a local music store. When I got it, the mods were already done except that it had a Dimarzio P pickup in it and I had changed it to what's in there now.

Here is what it is...
Late 75 P 598,XXX serial number on the F neck plate.
OG body has been modified to accommodate 2 Bartolini Humbuckers, one at the neck and one at the bridge.
The jack has been side mounted as the pickguard was made to work with the pickups...(whoever did this was a pro!)
The 3 knobs and bridge are from an early 80's Fender P special.
Brass nut
Schaller Strap lock ends.

It is wired with 2 volumes and a tone. The toggle switch alternates between the Barts and they can also be 'all on' or pick one and they will work as well.
Neck is pretty straight and there is plenty of room left to adjust the rod. the frets have some wear but they are OG to the neck. no fretouts and very little buzz....lots of life left in them.

has natural patina so no relic job here, it was done the old way...by PLAYING!

the picture I have of it is the OG I took back in 97 and it looks exactly the same. I will be taking some current pics but it is the same. I have a new Fender HSC that will be packed in.

**I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO COME TO MY SENSES AND PULL THIS***

ha! NICE! I love it. I bet the tones in that thing are killer. I'm really shocked that it's not finished like a box of crayola's threw up on it like some of the others you've had. :bassist: I think we could fit a couple more pickups in it though. :hiding:

PMs replied....still available...

Really looking for a modified Rick with the badass and the changed tuners....
-or-even a Rick guitar...yep 6 or 12 strings..

As my title says: :D
What's the weight of this one?
You mention it had a DiMarzio P-pickup but what is in it at the moment?
What model are the Barts in it?
+1 on the comment above. I'm guessing the switch is just to toggle between one bart, the other bart and both barts on? and then one volume control is for the p-pickup and the other for the barts.
Is the bridge still in the original position?
Sorry for asking so many questions but I find this bass intriguing :D

I will have to check the weight..it is not heavy
I believe that it is an 80's P pickup from a japanese P bass(I don't really remember...it does have the brass grounding plate underneath)
I cannot find anything on the barts on their site so I figure this was done in the 80's because of that.
See the other question for the answer on the toggle
The bridge is still in the OG position .

Since I guessed the three position switch functions, the bass is either P-bass volume, Bart volume, tone or the volume knobs are bart, p, then tone. If you wanna solo both Bart pickups you'd have the toggle switch to the 'all' selection and turn off the P-bass volume. Its like my strat. :)

Bart, P, Tone...It is very similar to a strat setup except that the toggle switch is there also...Not a 5 position like a strat...More PMs replied TO!
