I think the classified rules require you to list a price.
That said, The early Laklands are truly special. Even more special than the later ones.

4-94's typically go for between $1500 and $2000, usually on the lower end of that scale. Considering the low serial number on this one, you may be on the upper edge though

$1900 shipped is probably the least I would accept for it.........the bass is flawless and with the color and options on it I can't see it doing anything but gaining value.....

I think that's both a reasonable and solid price for the bass.

These early Laklands are perfect in everyway! If i didnt just get a 1998 55-94 I would sell my Car for this. Ok maybe a tad extreme, but I did initially consider a loan when seeing it

A mid-200s serial number puts the year of production as '97 or '98. But yes, the early Lakies are very sweet.

Do you have the original Bart pre, too? Also, are the pickups still the original Barts?

If I am not mistaken this bass is completely original. I don't think the pre has been changed.

I have one of the very early basses that Dan produced (actually, the 76th bass he made), purchased in 1996/7.

They were still working out the details of how to make the truss rod work (and last) properly - issues relating to heat treating.

Does this bass have the original truss rod? There were ways to rework the problem, which included adding a marker on the 1st fret (to cover up the rework drilling that was necessary to repair the truss rod).

Could you comment on that condition?

No problem Rob. I will be back at the house in a couple of hours and I will inspect that. I'm almost certain that the truss rod hasn't been touched on this one.

I forget what serial it is but I have an early serial 494 deluxe and it is FAR and away the best bass I've ever had in my hands. Worth every dollar he's asking. It's a lifer bass.

Ah, it must have been, though. The Lakland pre didn't come out till 2006/7. I do like the LH3 better, personally.

I'm sure you are right. This bass belonged to a player out of Nashville and he was the original owner. I want to verify everything on this bass before I send it out to anyone. I don't want anyone to have any misconceptions. I can play it, but I'm not the most knowing tech and equipment guys. I haven't changed anything on it but it doesn't mean that he didn't change out the pre. I know he said that he ordered it with the options that he wanted when he originally got it, but he had some contacts at Lakeland and may have changed something out on it.

I was off a bit on the SN#. It is #296 and it is stamped above the E string tuner with no coloring, just stamped into the wood. Anyone have any insight on the bass?
