Well.... I've been on the same journey, its been put on hold ever since I luckily got my grubby mitts on a Submarine Designer. I also have an EWS Bass Mid Control (BMC), which takes over for what I was using the Para for; parametric mid control and frequency sweep. What I will miss about the Para, and all the others listed below that I've tried, is the whole DI section. I really want a decent DI, and the Para is really good for that. Since I didn't use the bass or treble controls though, I just swapped it out for the BMC, which is only a mid control.

There are three problems here though:
1) the SD pops when I flip any switch on it and must be run off its own power supply or squelchiness occurs.
2) the BMC must be run off its own power supply (I use 18v) or UBER squelchiness occurs. EWS recommends not using it, or any of their products, with the Godlyke Power All adapters.
3) I don't have DI now, and must buy one separately (JDI's go for the same cost of new Para).

In summation, neither works well daisy chained through a Power All system. I haven't tried the Visual Sounds yet, but when I attached a VS cord to the PA adapter, much of the HF RF noise went away. Go figure. I never had any of this hassle with any of the pedals below. Something to be said for the 'all in one' featured products.

EQ DI's I've tried:

EBS Microbass II
nice and expensive, but I didn't use the drive channel much. Best used with a two guitar set up. Effects loop is interesting, but went unused. More features than I needed. high quality for sure.

Aguilar Tone Hammer
second favorite DI, but didn't have much use for the boost switch, and its a big heavy f***er! The balanced out was super clean though.

MXR M80
built well, good DI, but the overdrive section was not to my taste. Most comparable to the Para Driver in features and functionality, but the Para has a wider mid-sweep and more appealing (to me at least) drive section.

Tech 21 Para Driver
of all these it was my favorite EQ/DI. Form factor, clean tone control, drive control, etc., but again, I didn't use the drive section or the bass and treble much, so...

I must say I really like and respect the quality of all four pedals, but if I had to give advice on which to get, I'd say start with the Para Driver, and move toward the Aguilar, but only if you think you want/need the boost switch to overdrive a tube amp. This is of course, MHO. I have never tried a Bass Driver, as sweepable mids aren't featured on that pedal, and I kinda find em essential for bass.
