Details

For sale is as a Tele Bass-style instrument built around a 1968 Fender Telecaster Bass neck. I deem the neck to be in excellent condition, and the truss rod adjusts well. I presume the frets are original and show little wear. The neck is dated Nov, so the finish is poly. The size/shape of the neck is what I know of as "standard" for this issue (big!).

The body is an ash slab (no contour) body, manufacturer and type of finish unknown. The tuners are Gotoh "vintage style" and the pickup is a Duncan SCPB-II. The pickguard is clear acrylic with a zebra print underneath. The remaining parts are all commonly available replacement parts.

The bass is currently strung with Fender 9050M flatwound strings, the action is "average", and it plays well and sounds exactly as one would expect this type of bass to sound. The weight is 9 lbs. Included is a Mooradian gig bag. I will ship this bass to an address in the lower 48 United States for $1750, complete. All respectfully submitted reasonable offers will be considered.

'Nother bonus, with purchase: The 1968 Tele bass pickup that was originally part of the bass that this neck came from. Open coil, needs repair. Make an offer on this monster, roar-in-the-right-key Fender bass (cash only, no trades, please). Thank you!

As insignificant as it may be, the control plate is also from the '68. Not to be a smartass but if I had the original body, it would still be attached to this neck!

The story: The neck and electronics were left over from a fire at a shop in Tenn. (or was it Ky.?) where the bass was in for a body-only refin. It had been dissasembled and these parts boxed up and stored. The fire occurred in the spray area of the shop and these parts were pulled from the mess unscathed, and years later were given to me by my bro-in-law, an employee at the shop. I eventually used the pots and knobs, neck plate and screws on a late-sixties Tele restoration. More years later this aftermarket body came my way and i assembled this bass. Can't recall exactly what happened to the original p.u., but it ceased to work and it got put away and replaced. I love this bass for what it does so well, but my '61 P gets almost all the calls, and I live in a tiny house now; got too much stuff! I am keen to store my ironing board where this bass now leans against the wall! Make me a swell cash (no trades) offer!!

Not certain what you meant about a trade - Not interested in an aftermarket body - but I am interested in the Neck if you ever decide to part it out.

I am resisting parting it out. Buy the whole thing and you part it out!

Still available, at $1650, shipped to an address in the CONUS (contiguous 48). I had this bass on the gig the other night, and I know I'll miss it when it's gone! Plus the pickguard matched the attire of several hot chicks and they all flirted with me!! Someone make me start missing it soon, please. No trades, but will entertain reasonable, respectfully submitted offers! Contact me at musicofanatic*AT*hotmail*DOT*com.
