Hello & Happy Friday! I'll get to the point. This is my first MTD and calling it the "gateway" to the MTD World. I took the plunge and purchased this from Bass Central a few weeks ago based on the MTD reputation.

Ash Body w/Crotch Walnut Top
Ash Neck w/Maple Fretboard
EXCELLENT condition & GEORGOUS!
Serial #1773

It did not disapoint and only looking to trade for another 535 (21 preferably but will consider 24 frets & must be in excellent condition like this baby!) with a different wood combo: Alder body with maple neck/rosewood fretboard preferred but will of course consider other combinations. This bass is around the 9.6lbs maybe a little heavier and would prefer a lighter bass (up to 9.5lbs max please). Aggressive sounding bass rich in the upper mids with thundering lows and articulate highs (not really "bright" more crystal clear if that makes any sense). Bass is currently strung with brand new nickel Roto's that Bass Central threw in. It actually came with D'Addario's (from original owner) but I switched em to the Roto's, sounds great! Trading/Selling it because to be frank it's a little too aggressive sounding for me and the weight is a big jump from my Nordy VP5 (under 9lbs) which has undoubtedly spoiled me forever. I prefer a warmer tone and lighter weight. Sale price is $3,250 SHIPPED anywhere in the CONUS. MTD HSC included. Thanks for looking!

My 0.02's....try some different strings..... Roto's are pretty aggressive. I would go with some nickels and see how that works out. I tried a bass similar to yours in Rudy's strung with MTD's and it was awesome.....enough old school but with the ability to go modern...

Excellent advice and I actually do have nickel roto's on this bad boy but I do hear where you are coming from. Although i believe a set of MTD Nickels may warm up the tone a bit, my ears really hear/calls for a lesser aggressive and warmer MTD. There is no doubt this is an awesome bass, just not "the" MTD wood combo for me. I'm taking a little hit on it but IMO worth it because now I know what an MTD feels like and it truly is like no other... I played another MTD recently with a Makore body w/Rosewood board and that too was closer to what my ear hears than this one. Too bad that beast weighed over 10LBS!

If its a weight issue I am totally with you...can never handle anything over 9.5lbs... One of the reasons I am going with Swamp Ash on my build..... Good luck with the sale...

Great question and sadly my effin bathroom digital scale battery ran out two days ago, no lie! Bass Central listed it as 9 1/2 lbs and last time I weighed it on my bathroom scale (couple of weeks ago) it came in at 9.6-9.7lbs... Not that heavy to be honest but like I said, I've been gigging exclusively with my Nordy for the last year and that thing is a bantamweight prize fighter coming in under 9lbs so for me the MTD is kinda on the heavy side.

Monday Bump & Ready to package and ship!

Received many appealing offers and would like to open it up a little bit on the trade considerations. Will consider (5-strings only) Zon's, Elrick's, F-Bass plus/minus cash BUT to be honest, my priority is to trade for an MTD or an outright sale.

Thanks!

Forget bathroom scales. Just go to the post office and weigh the bass there.

Bump for a great guy, and certainly for a terrific bass. Not much subtle about an ash/walnut MTD, although biasing the front pickup can yield a tone that still cuts, but with some nice P-ish warmth and punch. Anyway....it's not in my nature to try to tempt :ninja: but...lookie what's right down the street from you, my friend.

LOL! Jerry, you rock my friend... Actually played that the Saturday before last when I was passing through town with the family and IS the main culprit for this FT/FS thread! Lightweight warm tone and not lacking on the looks too. Also, the Makore one finally sold this past weekend... THAT was a beast just a lil heavy. Thanks for the BUMP senor!

Ooh - that's a nice one. My kind of look and wood combo. :)
