In what way? Could you give a comparison of the 2P vs the SVP pres?

The pro has a juicy, furry thickness to it, it specializes in dirt. The cl is ultra clean, bordering on boring. The II-P is in between with a clean but distinctive tone with a lot of very direct impact. Has great high mids. I think the ultra-hi on it is a passive shunt like an alembic, so it's interactive with the volume control and sounds more interesting. The eq is more limited but very well voiced.

This is the pre in the SVT II (non-pro) it sounds much more like the actual SVTs from the 70's, compared to the 2 PRO or SVT-CL, but doesn't use oddball tubes (i.e. 12dw7 and 12bh7) like the old ones did. It doesn't have the noise problems that many of the SVP's do, and doesn't have a gain or drive knob, there is only a master volume on this one. Bass, midrange that effects the volume of one frequency on a 5 way selector switch (220, 450, 800, 1.6K, and 3K), treble, ultra low, ultra high, pre/post bal. out, and a 6 band graphic with 24 dB (12 up and 12 down) that say low, 100, 250, 750, 2K, high, and a +10 over all volume boost that will help if the power amp you use needs needs lots of juice. If there is anything negative to say about these pres (which isn't actually it's fault, as it drove the power section of the SVT 300 perfectly) it is that they are known to have a low voltage output, which you MIGHT be able to increase by putting in an odd ball tube such as a 12bh7 instead of a 12au7. The next version was the SVT-II, which changed construction methods from the HD. Preamp is one channel, has graphic.

The SVT2PRO is a derivative of the SVT-II, and is an "SVT plus" with extra gain etc, as requested, and rack package.

Thanks for adding the detail, all accurate. It works great with my Crest CA6 (which I could also consider selling), I have not tried it with a lower gain power amp.
