The last of my fours, I'm using only fives and sixes these days so it's time to put this one in the mitts of someone who will play it. Very rare US Scheff, the 17th of 19 ever made and of those only a few were Deluxes. Very classy Transparent Burgundy (the outdoors picture is most accurate) over a quilted maple top and swamp ash body with a quarter-sawn neck and birdseye board, right around nine pounds on the bathroom scale. In excellent shape front and back, one small ding (~1mm) on the lower bout rear edge and the customary light string bruises on the lipstick covers is all there is to report. Includes the original cream Lakland hard case, $2300 $2000 shipped CONUS.

Great stylistic elements on this bass - the deep burgundy, Lakland's oval bridge with the lipsticks and a maple board. Very cool. I'm a lefty but I do wish you the best of luck with the sale

These basses have a very cool and unique sound....I have one for a while but let it go for the same reason.....I. only play 5 string basses.

Would love to locate a Scheff 5er

Bump and good luck with the sale!

Dan, I have had this discussion with Trabeen in the past when I owned the USJS4 you have now and was researching the Jerry Scheff bass owners.

See if this make any sense:

You currently have S/N: JS07 (even though documented as being the third one made by special request of Lauren Scheff)

This one is JS17, third one before they where discontinued as a Signature Series bass. Now special order only, maybe.

Of you purchase this one, you will have...

- Third one made
- The third form last one made
- Two Rare USJS basses with Deluxe Quilted Translucent tops (Rosewood & Bird's Eye Maple)

and Sequenced s/n considering the 10s in the S/N:

JS07 - Documented as the third produced
JS17 - Third one before end of production

Do it!

As a proud Lakland Skyline Jerry Scheff owner, I have to say that this is, by far, the most beautiful Scheff bass I have ever seen and may very well be my "Holy Grail" of basses.

If I wouldn't have been savaged by the Taxman and agreed to do some home renovations, this bass would be making the trip to NJ.

Good luck with the sale!

Dan - Why stop at slightly more than 5% of the US JS models made in your possession, why not get this one and shoot for more than 10.5%? I'm just sayin'

Obligatory action shot, as you can see this instrument is fully "B" capable...

Very cool!

You know you must post that picture on the Jerry Scheff thread...

That's obligatory too!

What a beautiful Scheff!! As a Scheff Skyline 5 owner, I have a deep appreciation of these basses. If it hadn't been for $4300 worth of A/C for the home and the chimney man telling me $3900 is standing in between me and fires in my fireplace next year, I'd buy that baby!!

I hear ya, Tony! You can use this USJS4 and your SkyJS5 to help prop up your new tent while you sleep as you let that house burn!

Do it!
