Up for sale is a Tobias Eclipse 535w, #30 of 50 of the basses that Mike Tobias produced after his contract with Gibson was fulfilled and before settling on the "MTD" name. I am selling because I have been actively playing 34" scale instruments including fretless and switching back and forth to 35" scale is driving me crazy. I reserve the right not to sell or trade. Condition is 9.5 /10. The clear finish on the back has two runs, not very noticeable. I tried to get them in the pictures but was unable to. I am the second owner of this bass and purchased it in 2001.
Details:
35" scale, body is swamp ash with burl maple top. Neck is Wenge as is the fingerboard. Bartolini Soap Bars, 18v system, upgraded in 1996 by Mike. String spacing at the bridge is 19mm and nut width is 1 7/8". Weighs 8.5lbs on the bathroom scale. There is minor amount of fret wear, not even enough to mention really. I've never adjusted anything on the bass, never needed to. I've always used MTD exposed core strings. Plays wonderful and the slap tone is great. If it was 34" I would never sell it.
